Muni Meter Wifi Lag Leads to Tickets

Some residence in Yonkers are running into issues with a few new Muni Meters. These new Muni Meters don’t require you to display a ticket stub in your window. Instead, you can enter your license number when you purchase parking time and that information is transmitted to a hand held device used by parking enforcement agents. They check their hand held devices to see which license plates have bought time from the Muni Meter, and everyone goes about their business. Of course, if it takes a long time for their hand held devices to get updated, they could end up giving a ticket to a car that had bought time. Which is exactly what has been happening in Yonkers lately. According to Yonkers Parking Authority Executive Gail Burns as reported by Lohud, the vast majority of payments were transmitted within 2-5 minutes, with only about one percent taking longer than that. However, with nearly one hundred thousand transactions happening a month, one percent ends up being a lot of glitches. And with just a little bad luck, each of those glitches could result in an unwarranted parking ticket. Yonkers is working on getting better wifi coverage so less of these incidents occur, but in the meantime, you still could end up paying for parking and still getting a ticket.

If you do end up with one of these pesky tickets, that’s where Ticket Wiper comes in to help. Just download the app below and scan for your ticket in the NYC Database. Then we will fight the ticket for you, and if we win, you only pay 50% of the ticket. Otherwise you don’t pay us a dime. Try it out today!

Parking: It’s Not Worth Dying Over

Road rage. A terrifying phenomenon that plagues our country. And apparently it doesn’t just happen in traffic or driving on a freeway. This horrible story of road rage took place in Queens over a parking space. While the details of what exactly sparked the incident are a bit spotty, the end results are not. According to the New York Daily News, the suspect (now in custody) was arguing with two other men over a parking spot, when he allegedly took out a knife and stabbed the two men in the chest. He then jumped into his car and drove onto the sidewalk, striking six people, before driving off. One of the men he stabbed died in the incident. Five other people were injured but appear to be in stable condition. This truly senseless act is incredibly sad and bewildering. Parking in New York can be frustrating, but it certainly is not worth killing someone over.

The Worst Way To Deal With Parking Frustrations

Something terrible happened in Staten Island recently. A traffic agent was walking along on duty, just doing his job, when out of nowhere, a man came up behind him and punched him in the throat. The traffic agent fell down unconscious and had to be rushed to the hospital. Luckily he is fine, but is currently at home recovering from head and neck injuries. Witness seem to think that the attack was retaliation for a summons or ticket given earlier in the day.

We all know that getting tickets can be incredibly frustrating. And it’s easy to blame the traffic agents for giving us the tickets, even though they are just doing their jobs. North Korea: International Pariah, Notorious NYC Scofflaw

It appears North Korea has been busy lately. In between pursuing a nuclear program, intercontinental missiles and verbal sparring with President Trump, North Korea has racked up quite a bill with the city of New York. According to The Drive, North Korea owes NYC over 150,000 dollars from over 1,300 parking tickets going back as far as the 1990’s! They claim this number is too high, based on a 2002 agreement between the US State Department and the city of New York, but most of the parking tickets were actually given before 2002 anyway. And while there are clearly bigger issues between the USA and North Korea, I’m sure we can all agree that they should pay the city for their wanton disregard for parking signs.

It’s easy to forget about old parking tickets, or get so busy you feel like you don’t have time to take care of them properly, so that’s where Ticket Wiper comes in to help. Just download the app below and scan for your ticket in the NYC Database. Then we will fight the ticket for you, and if we win, you only pay 50% of the ticket. Otherwise you don’t pay us a dime. Famous 1970’s Serial Killer Stopped By Parking Ticket

Police Inspector Irving Levitan recalled that when he attended [victim] Stacy Moskowitz’s funeral…, he had mumbled to somebody, “It’ll be a traffic ticket, something silly like that, that will get him.” These prophetic words were uttered only a few weeks before one of the most infamous serial killers, the Son of Sam, was caught by police, according to the New York Daily News. So how did a parking ticket bring down the killer?

Police were at a loss to track down the Son of Sam. They had spent a small fortune tracking down every gun matching the murder weapon they could and had a few fingerprint fragments, but they were out of leads. Then, after another shooting occurred, they finally caught a break. A woman came forward saying she had seen a suspicious looking man walking around with his arm held stiff and a glint of metal in his hand late at night as she walked her dog. While she was not willing to come forward publicly, she did give them one piece of information that ended up cracking the case. She had also seen some officers giving parking tickets in the area. So armed with that information, the police began looking for any parking tickets in the area that seemed suspicious. They eventually came across a ticket given to a man who was known by his neighbors as being a neighborhood nuisance, including supposedly shooting his neighbor’s dog. This was enough for the police to confront him, and they ended up finding the murder weapon. The Son of Sam’s reign of terror was over. The case, cracked because of a parking ticket.

Most of us consider parking tickets to be a nuisance. But as this story shows, in some rare cases, parking tickets can be a true public service.

Hoboken’s Nightmare Parking Ticket Quotas

If you’ve ever had a job where you thought the boss had unrealistic expectations, wait till you read about the quotas that Hoboken Traffic Officers have to deal with. According to New Jersey 101.5, Hoboken Traffic Officers who go longer than 20 minutes without issuing a ticket have to alert their boss! This is apparently because there are so few legal parking spots in Hoboken that it is almost impossible for officers to go longer than 20 minutes without seeing an opportunity to issue a ticket. And while HPD says there is no ‘quota’, they have fired officers for not issuing tickets fast enough. In fact, Hoboken issued more tickets per capita than Jersey City! I bet they wish they had Ticket Wiper in New Jersey!
