Hidden Fire Hydrant Sets Parking Ticket Trap

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Sometimes it feels like the NYC Traffic Authorities are really just out to get us. You park in a spot that looks totally fine, go run some errands, and then come back to find a ticket on your car. “For what?” you may ask. And then you see it. Behind the fence next to the road, hidden within some overgrown weeds, is a fire hydrant. Who would possibly notice such a thing? This is the question many residents of Windsor Terrace are asking according to CBS New York. And rightly so. This particular hydrant is apparently notorious in the neighborhood for being a ticket trap for unsuspecting drivers. However, local residents have taken the issue to their City Councilman, Brad Landers, and he has registered the complaints with the Department of Transportation. They’ve promised to move a No Standing sign so that it covers the spots directly in front of the hydrant. And while posting signs prohibiting parking in front of fire hydrants isn’t standard in NYC, I think it’s pretty clear to everyone that this case is an exception. So just remember, it’s always worth taking a quick look around when you park, even if it looks like a perfect spot. Some things are just too good to be true.
