Sometimes it seems like the parking signs in NYC are purposefully trying to confuse you. One place in Greenpoint, Brooklyn is getting some attention for being particularly tricky, to the point where some people are calling it a trap. On Manhattan Ave, between Huron and India St, there is a sign saying 2 hour metered parking is allowed from the sign to the end of the block. On the other side of the sign, however, is another sign that says No Standing. Apparently the No Standing rule, which is still technically in effect, is for a bus lane that no longer exists in that spot. So now Traffic Officers in Greenpoint seem to know that they can rely on people only seeing the sign that says they are allowed to park and are issuing tickets constantly to people unlucky enough to fall into the trap.
