Hidden Fire Hydrant Sets Parking Ticket Trap

Sometimes it feels like the NYC Traffic Authorities are really just out to get us. You park in a spot that looks totally fine, go run some errands, and then come back to find a ticket on your car. “For what?” you may ask. And then you see it. Behind the fence next to the road, hidden within some overgrown weeds, is a fire hydrant. Who would possibly notice such a thing? This is the question many residents of Windsor Terrace are asking according to CBS New York. And rightly so. This particular hydrant is apparently notorious in the neighborhood for being a ticket trap for unsuspecting drivers. However, local residents have taken the issue to their City Councilman, Brad Landers, and he has registered the complaints with the Department of Transportation. They’ve promised to move a No Standing sign so that it covers the spots directly in front of the hydrant. And while posting signs prohibiting parking in front of fire hydrants isn’t standard in NYC, I think it’s pretty clear to everyone that this case is an exception. So just remember, it’s always worth taking a quick look around when you park, even if it looks like a perfect spot. Some things are just too good to be true.

If you do end up with one of these pesky tickets, that’s where Ticket Wiper comes in to help. Just download the app below and scan for your ticket in the NYC Database. Then we will fight the ticket for you, and if we win, you only pay 50% of the ticket. Otherwise you don’t pay us a dime. Try it out today!

30 Scofflaws Caught Using Fake Parking Placards

The New York Times is reporting that 30 people were arrested on earlier this month for creating or using fake parking placards. If you’ve been keeping up with this blog, you probably know that Mayor De Blasio recently created a special task force called the Placard Fraud Enforcement Unit to try and crack down on misuse and illicit activity surrounding parking placards. And now it looks like the chickens have come home to roost for many people either creating or using fake parking placards. Of the 30 arrested, 23 were charged with second-degree criminal impersonation for using the placards, while the other 7 were brought up on charges related to the creation and sale of said placards. Those arrested were asked to turn themselves in and were forced to brought to the State Supreme Court in Manhattan in handcuffs in front of TV cameras and press. All 30 pleaded not guilty.

Placard abuse by either those using fake placards or those using and abusing real ones has been a bit of a hot button issue for our current mayor. He initially tried to cut down on the overall number of placards issued, but met fierce resistance from the the teacher’s union and other organizations representing city workers. But as we can see from these arrests, there is plenty of placard fakery to keep his task force busy.

We here at Ticket Wiper know how frustrating it is to get a parking ticket. But at the end of the day, it’s always better to follow the rules. As the city commissioner of the Department of Investigation Mark G. Peters said “When someone uses a fraudulent placard like this it’s as though they are stealing city resources.” So instead of trying to pull a fast one, just come to us with your ticket woes. Our team of experts is here to help you fight any pesky tickets you might end up with. Just download the app below and scan for your ticket in the NYC Database. Then we will fight the ticket for you, and if we win, you only pay 50% of the ticket. Otherwise you don’t pay us a dime. Try it out today!

Creative Scofflaw Uses Fake Permit To Avoid Tickets

Some people will go to any lengths to avoid getting a parking ticket. According to an article in DNA Info, a car was spotted in Midtown recently with what appears to be a homemade parking permit on display for all to see. According to Craig Toocheck, an urban designer and transportation advocate, “What it looked like to me was a folder, probably stickers that you could get online or a gift shop in DC somewhere,” he said. “It was obviously just printed and cut out with stickers and a business card next to a campaign hat.” NY Congressman Adriano Espaillat tweeted on Sept. 28th that the placard was a fake and that he has alerted authorities.

As for the car in question, records show that the driver owes over $300 in fines to the city for speeding and running red lights, however there are currently no outstanding parking tickets for the vehicle. So maybe his clever ruse is working.

That having been said, we certainly don’t endorse using trickery to try to get out of parking tickets. It’s always easier to follow the law in the long run. And if you don’t end up with one a pesky tickets, that’s where Ticket Wiper comes in to help. Just download the app below and scan for your ticket in the NYC Database. North Korea: International Pariah, Notorious NYC Scofflaw

It appears North Korea has been busy lately. In between pursuing a nuclear program, intercontinental missiles and verbal sparring with President Trump, North Korea has racked up quite a bill with the city of New York. According to The Drive, North Korea owes NYC over 150,000 dollars from over 1,300 parking tickets going back as far as the 1990’s! They claim this number is too high, based on a 2002 agreement between the US State Department and the city of New York, but most of the parking tickets were actually given before 2002 anyway. And while there are clearly bigger issues between the USA and North Korea, I’m sure we can all agree that they should pay the city for their wanton disregard for parking signs.

It’s easy to forget about old parking tickets, or get so busy you feel like you don’t have time to take care of them properly, so that’s where Ticket Wiper comes in to help. Just download the app below and scan for your ticket in the NYC Database. Then we will fight the ticket for you, and if we win, you only pay 50% of the ticket. Otherwise you don’t pay us a dime. Parking Spot Gets Turned Into a Handicap Spot With Car Still In It

Here at the Ticket Wiper Blog, we’ve written about some horror stories that have taken place here in NYC and elsewhere. Misleading signs, parking scams, you name it. But this one takes the cake. Recently in Tel Aviv, a woman parked her car in a normal space on the street, only to return to find her car gone, and the space her car had been in transformed into a handicapped spot. Of course, who would believe such an outlandish story? Certainly not the municipal hotline employee she called to complain. But luckily she was vindicated. She got access to a street camera that shows a contractor coming up to the car and literally painting the handicapped spot on the ground around the car! Once she had the video of course, the ticket was dropped and towing fines refunded. But that hasn’t stopped her from taking the story viral.

If you feel like your parking ticket came from the twilight zone, get in touch with us here at Ticket Wiper. With years of experience under our belts, we are here to help in any situation that seems strange or otherwise. Just download the app below and scan for you ticket in the NYC Database. NYPD Issued Millions Worth of Tickets For Legal Spots

Does the headline for this article shock you? Unfortunately it seems to be true. Thanks to the number crunching at website I Quant NY, we now can see that over the last few years, the NYPD has issued a shocking number of tickets for parking spots that are 100% legal. One of the primary places this is happening is in front of curb cuts in the middle of a block. As I wrote in a previous blog post about parking in front of curb cuts (which you can find in it’s entirity HERE), “In 2009 the City made it legal to park in front of curb cuts that were in the middle of a block.” Unfortunately this hasn’t stopped the NYPD from continuing to issue tons of tickets for parking legally in spots like these.

There are plenty of ways that you can end up with a ticket that won’t stand up in court. Here at Ticket Wiper, our experts have years of experience in knowing how to spot a ticket that isn’t worth the paper it is printed on. And that’s why you should always submit your ticket through the Ticket Wiper app. You never know when we might be able to help you get your ticket thrown out. Just download the app below and scan for you ticket in the NYC Database. Then we will fight the ticket for you, and if we win, you only pay 50% of the ticket. Otherwise you don’t pay a dime. Try it out today!

Greenpoint Parking Ticket Trap!

Sometimes it seems like the parking signs in NYC are purposefully trying to confuse you. One place in Greenpoint, Brooklyn is getting some attention for being particularly tricky, to the point where some people are calling it a trap. On Manhattan Ave, between Huron and India St, there is a sign saying 2 hour metered parking is allowed from the sign to the end of the block. On the other side of the sign, however, is another sign that says No Standing. Apparently the No Standing rule, which is still technically in effect, is for a bus lane that no longer exists in that spot. So now Traffic Officers in Greenpoint seem to know that they can rely on people only seeing the sign that says they are allowed to park and are issuing tickets constantly to people unlucky enough to fall into the trap.

If you do end up with one of these pesky tickets, that’s where Ticket Wiper comes in to help. Just download the app below and scan for you ticket in the NYC Database. Then we will fight the ticket for you, and if we win, you only pay 50% of the ticket. Otherwise you don’t pay a dime. Try it out today!

Bronx Business Owner Who Got a Ticket For an Invisible Bike Lane

Sometimes fighting parking tickets can seem like a nightmare. Just look at the case of this woman in the Bronx who got a ticket for parking in a bike lane that didn’t exist! She’s been fighting a ticket for months for parking in front of the store she’s owned for 40 years. And while there is clearly no bike lane in front of her store, she somehow ended up with a ticket claiming she had parked in one. She tried appealing the ticket twice and got rejected both times. Eventually she ended up paying the ticket off to avoid late fees, because she couldn’t afford to close her store and go fight the ticket in court.

If only she had know about Ticket Wiper! By using the Ticket Wiper app, she could have had a team of professionals fighting on her behalf. Cobble Hill Parking Scam: Why You Should Always Dispute Your Parking Tickets

A recent scam in Cobble Hill got people to pay illegitimate parking tickets to NYC itself. A construction company working on a new condo appears to have put up some fake No Parking signs around the construction site. Tickets were issued to cars parked in front of them, and busy people eager to just get on with their lives simply paid the tickets and moved on. The signs, of course, were not real and the tickets issued were not worth the paper they were printed on. This is a great example of how Ticket Wiper can help the average, busy citizens of New York. One of the ways in which Ticket Wiper fights for you is to check every aspect of the ticket to make sure it is legitimate, legal and properly issued. Had the victims of this scam been using Ticket Wiper, our experts would have checked to make sure the signs were valid and gotten these tickets thrown out in an instant!

So even if you get a Parking Ticket that appears to be indisputable, it is in your best interest to have Ticket Wiper take a look for you. It’s easy and fast. Just download the app below and scan for you ticket in the NYC Database. Then we will fight the ticket for you, and if we win, you only pay 50% of the ticket. Otherwise you don’t pay a dime.
