According to NYC.gov, “The Bus Lane Camera Program films vehicles that drive, park, or stand in bus lanes.” That means you can get a ticket for the slightest violation of bus lane traffic laws that could cost you between $115-$150. There are only four situations where it is appropriate to enter a bus lane:
.You can enter a bus lane at an intersection in order to make a right hand turn or enter a driveway within 200ft, unless it is otherwise restricted.
.You can stop just long enough to drop off or pick up a passenger.
.You can stop to make deliveries only during the hours bus lanes are not in effect.
.You can enter a bus lane in order to use adjacent curbside parking.
