Muni Meter Wifi Lag Leads to Tickets

Some residence in Yonkers are running into issues with a few new Muni Meters. These new Muni Meters don’t require you to display a ticket stub in your window. Instead, you can enter your license number when you purchase parking time and that information is transmitted to a hand held device used by parking enforcement agents. They check their hand held devices to see which license plates have bought time from the Muni Meter, and everyone goes about their business. Of course, if it takes a long time for their hand held devices to get updated, they could end up giving a ticket to a car that had bought time. Which is exactly what has been happening in Yonkers lately. According to Yonkers Parking Authority Executive Gail Burns as reported by Lohud, the vast majority of payments were transmitted within 2-5 minutes, with only about one percent taking longer than that. However, with nearly one hundred thousand transactions happening a month, one percent ends up being a lot of glitches. And with just a little bad luck, each of those glitches could result in an unwarranted parking ticket. Yonkers is working on getting better wifi coverage so less of these incidents occur, but in the meantime, you still could end up paying for parking and still getting a ticket.

If you do end up with one of these pesky tickets, that’s where Ticket Wiper comes in to help. Just download the app below and scan for your ticket in the NYC Database. Then we will fight the ticket for you, and if we win, you only pay 50% of the ticket. Otherwise you don’t pay us a dime. Try it out today!
